My elderly mother had some serious questions about bankruptcy and estate matters. I came into contact with Karen after my divorce. My ex-husband left me with a ton of debt that after two years of trying to handle on my own I just couldn’t handle anymore. I had no idea where to go what to do, and with the way I was raised, I was extremely embarrassed. I went in for my consultation at which time I was made to feel like I was any other person and had no reason to be embarrassed. There are a lot of busy attorneys in the world, but the best attorneys stay current with the changes in the law and find time to serve their communities. I have worked with Karen to improve the state of knowledge of bankruptcy attorneys throughout the country. She “keeps up” on the law much to the benefit of her clients, while many attorneys don’t research the law until there is a problem (good lawyers avoid problems). Her service as a judge is impressive because it is a hard job where she must make decisions about important and difficult matters and disputes. The first lawyer I went to made a mess of my chapter 7 paperwork and filed everything incorrectly. He spent a total of 20 minutes with me as consultation and then met me at the court for my hearing. After the hearing, the court wrote a letter to my lawyer saying that I needed to provide more documentation but he didn’t know what to do. That’s when I found Karen. She helped immensely! She dealt with the court for months trying to get them to understand my particular situation and in the end, I did end up filing Chapter 13. She was patient with me and helped me understand the severity of the situation and the amount of money it would cost to fight further. Two years later when I lost my job due to illness she helped me filed for Chapter 7. I’m so thankful to Karen and all the care and consideration she took with me. It was a very difficult and stressful time in my life and I appreciate what she did very much.

Due to Karen’s expertise and knowledge regarding bankruptcy, my Chapter 13 was handled promptly and smoothly. Payments to the trustee are manageable, I’m able to pay the remaining bills, buy groceries, fuel, etc., and still have a little leftover for emergencies, incidentals, etc. She and her staff answered all of my questions without hesitation and guided me through the whole process.
